arrival in ha noi
after about 25 hours of travel, a and i landed in ha noi at around 11pm on a thursday.
first stop: chicken alley
we found out about this street because of 백종원. it didn't seem as lively as in the video, but also after dropping off our stuff at the airbnb we got there at around midnight.
this pickled stuff was the discovery of the day. we suspect it's something like garlic sprouts.

for some reason our guy did give us two bottles immediately. i assumed from looking at other tables that this was the minimum order and he wasn't in fact out to get me specifically.
second stop: pho
unsatisfied by chicken alone, we made it a bang bang and grabbed our way to late-night pho--though it was lunch time in our brains.
that poached egg was a real beauty
finally sated we walked back to our airbnb. it was late, even for ha noi, we were basically the only people out and about, save for a few soldiers at their posts.
