travel day - vinh to hue
we met a little friend carrying his little friend.
breakfast: banh mi
this was one of the few places really open this sleepy tuesday morning in vinh, every where else was just opening up/getting ready for the day when we ventured out.
the grill was already in motion so we got some extra skewers on their own. so good. I love a 6am banh mi.
vinh is a short trip from the hometown of famous vietnamese poet, nguyen du.
these kids crowded me and alex because they wanted to practice their english. it was very cute.
more drivin' along
finally some blue sky :)
literally maybe the best banh mi i had this whole trip and it was on a roadside restaurant and it was just this egg omelet.
horrible picture, incredible coffee from the same roadside establishment.
a ha tinh speciality, cu do, the name is a play on "stiff dick"
lunch: banh cuon
our second banh cuon experience, very different style from our first.
this one involved very thinly sliced steamed pork belly and a diy roll experience. you take the dry and crispy rice paper and use it to grab a thin slice of the chewy, steamed rice paper, then wrap everything together with papaya salad, herbs, and fish paste of course. it reminded a and me very much of 수육.
touring dong hoi
i loved stopping in this smaller town. we only spent maybe an hour max walking around, but the breeze was pleasant and it really felt like we had escaped from the busy cities with the blue blue skies and water.
arrival in hue
we said bye to tâm and thong :(
and now we have nearly fully transitioned to the bougie half of our trip. starting off strong with this very cute boutique hotel.
